What happens if I cannot reach the summit?

1 :

Days 1–2: Machame Gate to Machame Camp & Shira Plateau

Start your trek at Machame Gate (1,800m), walking through lush rainforest alive with monkeys and birds. Overnight at Machame Camp before ascending into heath and moorland zones, reaching Shira Plateau with breathtaking views of Kibo Peak.

2 :

Days 3–4: Shira to Lava Tower & Barranco Camp

Climb gradually across the alpine desert, acclimatizing at Lava Tower (4,600m). Descend to Barranco Valley, one of Kilimanjaro’s most beautiful spots with giant Senecio plants. Overnight at Barranco Camp.

3 :

Days 5–6: Karanga to Barafu Camp

Continue trekking across rugged terrain to Karanga Camp before pushing to Barafu Camp (4,600m), your base for the summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the final ascent.

4 :

Day 7: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak & Descent to Mweka Camp

Begin at midnight for the most challenging part of the climb. Reach Stella Point at sunrise, then continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement before descending to Mweka Camp.

5 :

Day 8: Descent to Mweka Gate & Return to Arusha

Complete your trek through rainforest trails to Mweka Gate, where you receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Arusha for rest and celebration.
